Being too busy: Many people don't get enough time with their friends, family, or significant other to really relax. Spending too much time together is not going to get things done.
Not being open to things that are wrong: People are often unwilling to hear what they don't want to hear. If you don't agree with them, it will not be talked about. The only way to learn is by listening to your mate, but then it will come out in the relationship.
Not knowing your mate is not going to tell you what is true and what is false: Just because you like a person doesn't mean they are going to get along with everyone else. If your mate does something to annoy you or go against your preferences, don't just listen. You may find out through other interactions with that person that they are not as nice as you thought. When this happens, keep trying to work things out.
Not calling or emailing often enough: Sometimes we get so used to texting and emailing that we forget to call and email. If you are not contacting your partner and your other friends regularly, you will find that you have more free time with each other than you thought. Just remember that you are trying to build relationships and while it may take some time, you are doing it in the right way.
Taking advantage of your spouse: Another thing you will do when you go out with your mate is that you will take advantage of their free time. This might not seem like such a big deal, but the truth is that it can put your relationship into a rough spot because your mate does not want to look bad.
Not having a sense of humor: While it is nice to go out with a friend for dinner, it is always nice to have a sense of humor. Everyone has a good time and you don't want to ruin it with a bad joke.
Going on too many dates: People who go out with a new date often find that they have more free time than they realize. With the exception of those couples who live together, it is often nice to have a date at least once a week.
Not being realistic: With any serious relationship, you need to be realistic. If you want to go out for the weekend, don't expect your mate to give you that, especially if you are not ready for it. Sure, it is better than nothing, but there is no guarantee that you two will spend the weekend together.
Living in another's relationship: A lot of people who are interested in dating in a coffee shop have issues in their own relationships. Most of the time, these problems are because of what has happened in their lives. If they don't have the right person, they will probably wind up seeing someone else.
You can make sure that you don't fall into the trap of a wrong relationship, and there are some helpful tools out there to help you do that. Most people only want to enjoy the time they spend with their mates, but if you are stuck, make sure that you use all the resources you have to avoid the common mistakes in this type of relationship.
